TPREL, Tata Power’s 100% owned renewable energy subsidiary, has commissioned a 30 MW solar plant, spread over 140 acres in Palaswade village in Maan Taluka, in Satara district located 350km south of Aurangabad city, Maharashtra.
The plant will produce over 62 million kWh annually, covering the annual energy needs of over 14,000 Indian households. The power generated will be fed to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited.
The solar plant uses domestically manufactured crystalline Silicon PV modules, from an unnamed manufacturer.
The plant will be maintained using rainwater harvested through the construction of check dams, as Maan taluka is a water-scarce drought-prone region in Maharashtra.
TPREL’s present operating capacity is 1487 MW comprising of 530 MW wind and 957 MW solar. With the acquisition of Welspun Renewables Energy Pvt Ltd and the project pipeline, TPREL’s portfolio grows to about 2.2 GW making it one of the largest Renewable Energy Company in India.
