Reinforcing its commitment to advancing clean energy adoption in the capital, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) recently organized a landmark Resident Welfare Association (RWA) Summit in Rohini. The event brought together over 100 RWAs and Group Housing Societies (GHS), formalizing their commitment to solar autonomy and transforming residential neighbourhoods into decentralized solar hubs.
The event focused on enabling consumers to leverage the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGY) and the Delhi Solar Policy, both designed to make rooftop solar solutions more accessible and affordable. Through its ‘SURYANSH – Solar Lagayie, Har Din Bachat Payie’ initiative, Tata Power-DDL is facilitating a structured transition toward solar autonomy by providing end-to-end technical and procedural support.
The initiative has witnessed strong consumer response, with registrations under the programme surpassing 15,000 for the financial year 2025–26. February 2026 alone recorded approximately 3,000 new enrolments, reflecting a growing shift among urban households toward sustainable energy solutions.
A key highlight of the summit was the presentation of a strategic roadmap for Virtual Net Metering (VNM) and Group Net Metering (GNM). These frameworks are particularly relevant for multi-storey residential complexes, allowing residents with shared rooftop infrastructure to equitably distribute and benefit from solar energy generation.
Moving beyond awareness, the programme has now entered its execution phase, with on-site feasibility assessments already underway to evaluate rooftop readiness for solar installations. As part of the event, Tata Power-DDL also recognized community leaders as “Solar Champions,” acknowledging their role in driving solar adoption within their respective societies.
Sharing his experience, representative of the Sidharth Apartment RWA in Pitampura, said, “Tata Power-DDL is providing a much-needed platform for consumers to avail the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar scheme. The utility offers comprehensive assistance—from registration on the PM Portal to subsidy disbursal—making rooftop solar a practical reality for residents.”
Tata Power-DDL continues to encourage residents to explore rooftop solar adoption. Interested consumers can access information via the Tata Power-DDL Solar Portal or register through the following channels: Call: 19124 or WhatsApp: Send ‘YES’ to 9910376600.
