The announcement follows the policy reforms introduced at the 56th GST Council Meeting, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on September 3, 2025, which reduced GST rates on solar solutions from 12% to 5% and on power backup systems from 28% to 18%.
