Kalpa Power Private Limited, one of India’s leading solar energy management companies, has launched WATTBANK – India’s first productized Battery Energy Storage Service (BESS). Designed for commercial and industrial (C&I) businesses, ‘WATTBANK’ delivers 50% saving on their evening peak tariff from day one. WATTBANK charges during the day using solar energy and automatically supplies power during costly evening peak time, enabling businesses to achieve direct savings of ₹80 lakhs to ₹1 crore annually for typical 1MW facilities.

This project is also one of the first of its kind at this scale for a commercial establishment in Pune.  The 130kW installation is part of a larger, integrated solar powered system that makes the Amar Business Zone’s entire office premise a true net-zero operation. With WATTBANK, Kalpa Power is providing a truly integrated solution through a ‘productized service’ model that includes Energy Audit, Right-sized Storage design, End-to-End Implementation, 24×7 Data Visibility, and Life Cycle Management.

Designed with a lifespan of 25 years, the system will use Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, known for their advanced safety and efficiency. The WATTBANK (BESS) will help manage fluctuations in electricity demand, improve grid stability, and reduce overloading issues.

“Energy storage is the key missing link for scaling renewable energy in India. The BESS allows for power to be delivered when it’s required, not just when it’s available, directly tackling the variability of solar and ensuring our clients have 24/7 access to clean, reliable electricity. With WATTBANK, we are accelerating the clean energy transition while delivering immediate cost benefits to businesses,” said Rounak Muthiyan, Founder and Director of Kalpa Power.

With an ambitious renewable energy target of 500 GW by 2030 and progressive new policies, Battery Energy Storage has become central to the future of round-the-clock power. By focusing on integrated BESS solutions, Kalpa Power is demonstrating a clear roadmap for clients to achieve significant energy savings and contribute to national goal of achieving net-zero emissions.
