Greenlight Planet, an organization that designs, distributes and finances solar home energy products, has launched a portable solar-powered fan. The Sun King fan is powered by a 20W solar panel.

Speaking about the launch, Sahil Khanna, partnerships business leader for Asia at Greenlight Planet said, “It is important for us to keep up with the changing needs to our consumers and this has helped us expand from solar lighting to more convenient home energy solutions like the Sun King Fan. Through the sale of our solar products, Greenlight Planet has reached over 2.4 million rural households in India and achieved 5.4 metric tonnes of CO2 offset. With every new product we introduce, we are committed to serving the off-grid families in need so they can live safer, brighter and more productive lives.”

The Sun King Fan provides powerful airflow, striking the perfect balance between performance, durability, and affordability, making it a convenient cooling option for consumers. Features such as the timer function, three-speed modes and portability, differentiate it from any other solar fan in the market. Its unique brushless motor affords a longer lifespan than those with a brushed motor extending the average life of a fan of its size by an additional three years.

Powered by a 20W solar panel, the battery and motor in the Sun King Fan are designed to support more than 20,000 hours of continuous use over its lifetime. A single sunny day’s charge can sustain the fan for 18 continuous hours, and its intuitive interface allows the user to select from three-speed modes: turbo, normal and low power. It features a solar charging meter and a programmable timer to run the fan for 30, 60, or 120 minutes.

Certified by the International Finance Corporation’s Lighting Global program, the Sun King Fan is competitively priced at Rs 5999 and with a warranty of 2 years it is distributed through the company’s extensive retail distribution network, as well as the financial institution partners, who offer rural women affordable financing to own the product.
