Apraava Energy organises its first zero-waste event

Apraava Energy, India’s leading integrated energy solutions provider, hosted its first zero-waste event as part of its continued commitment to sustainability. As a result of this initiative, 170 to 200 kilograms of potential waste generated at the event were prevented from ending up in landfills.

The event, held in Mumbai with close to 200 guests, brought together Apraava’s alumni community and reflected the company’s core value of Sustainability through Responsibility, ensuring that every aspect of the gathering, from decor to dining ware, followed environmentally responsible practices.

Apraava worked closely with its vendors and partners, including the hotel, event management agency and sustainability advisor, to minimise environmental impact and design an event that was both memorable and mindful.

Key highlights of the initiative included:

  • The branding materials were made from cloth instead of flex, which will later be recycled into reusable carry bags in partnership with an NGO. Additionally, MDF materials will be reused by the event management            agency.
  • No single-use plastics or tissues were used at the event.
  • Food waste was minimised through portion planning, a curated menu in collaboration with the hotel.
  • Separate waste stations were set up to ensure effective recycling and composting.
  • As part of the zero-waste approach, alumni attending the meet received socially sourced giveaways handcrafted by underprivileged communities in Chandigarh, Punjab, and accompanied by kitchen garden seed kits from tribal communities in Konkan, Maharashtra.

Commenting on the initiative, Deepa Sebastian, Chief Human Resource Officer, Apraava Energy, said, “Our first Alumni Meet was not only a celebration of the people who have been part of Apraava’s journey, but also an opportunity to put our values into action. By making it a zero-waste event, we aimed to demonstrate that sustainability can be seamlessly woven into how we come together as a community, with thoughtfulness, accountability, and purpose.”

Apraava Energy continues to embed sustainability at the heart of its operations, culture, and engagement practices, reaffirming its vision to power a greener, more responsible future for all.
