The Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced its vision to create 3 lakh jobs in the green energy sector, contributing to a larger goal of 20 lakh jobs across various industries over the next five years.

The announcement was made at “Empowering India’s Green Future: AP as the Talent Hub for Solar and Wind Energy” conference, held in Vijayawada, organized by the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) in collaboration with the Swaniti Initiative.

In his keynote address, Lokesh Nara, Minister for Human Resources Development, IT, and Real Time Governance, said, ““We are not just building infrastructure—we are building people power. Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as a national leader in clean energy and next-generation technologies. This is the people’s mandate, and we will deliver.”

At the heart of the initiative is a cluster-based development model, under which each 100-kilometer cluster in the state will focus on a high-potential sector. Each cluster will aim to attract the top 20 global companies within its sector, creating industry-aligned job opportunities. The state’s innovation vision will be further powered by the inclusion of the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub, serving as a catalyst for advanced research, entrepreneurship, and global collaborations.

Burugupalli Sesharao, Chairman of APSSDC, said, “APSSDC will support the state’s green energy mission by training unemployed rural youth and equipping them with the skills needed for employment.”

Further bolstering the green talent push, Kamalakara Babu, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of NREDCAP, announced the establishment of a dedicated Energy University in Amaravati, launch of joint skill centers in partnership with APSSDC, and specialized training programs including Suryamitra, Vayumitra, and Wind Farm Engineer Training.

Rwitwika Bhattacharya, CEO of the Swaniti Initiative, which partners with states to drive governance transformation, said, “This is one of the most forward-looking workforce blueprints we’ve seen in India. The convergence of skilling, industry engagement, and green energy investment positions Andhra Pradesh as a model for other states.
