Battery scientists make a cracking observation

Scientists at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the U.S. used x-ray imaging to observe cracks forming in a solid state lithium battery, a discovery they say changes the understanding of performance of solid state batteries and which could lead to more durable systems.

SECI tenders further 1.2 GW of solar across India

The Solar Energy Corporation of India has invited bids to set up 1.2 GW of grid-connected solar under the fifth phase of its national interstate transmission system program. The projects – to be established on a build, own, operate basis – will be awarded through e-bidding and a reverse auction with a tariff ceiling of Rs2.65/kWh. Bidding closes on July 31.

EU and India step up cooperation on solar parks

The European Union and India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy have jointly launched standard operation procedures and monitoring tool for Indian solar parks. SECI revamps manufacturing-linked mega solar tender

Global bids are now invited to set up 2 GW of solar manufacturing capacity linked to 6 GW of inter-state-connected solar power projects. The projects—to be developed on ‘build-own-operate’ basis—shall be awarded through tariff-based competitive bidding followed by e-reverse auction. Tariff ceiling is fixed at Rs 2.75/kWh for a period of 25 years. Bidding closes on July 26.

CleanMax Solar to set up 150 MW solar farm in Haryana at Rs 6 billion

Situated in Sirsa district, the group captive solar project is in line with CleanMax Solar’s mission to more than double its customer base from 120 corporates to 300 by 2022.

Haryana tenders 57 MW grid-connected solar capacity

Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited has invited global bids for setting up of an aggregate ground-mounted solar capacity of 57 MW at three sites in the state. Of the total capacity, 30 MW shall come up in Faridabad, and plants of 15 MW and 12 MW at two separate sites in Yamuna Nagar. Bidding closes on July 17.

NSEFI urges Karnataka to prevent solar curtailment

Citing huge losses to solar power developers, the lobby group has urged state-owned utility Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited not to arbitrarily curtail generation from solar power projects that are in any case ‘must run.’
