Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd has issued a tender to develop an aggregate 41 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar capacity in Madhya Pradesh. The RESCO mode capacity shall come upon the buildings of different government departments and private institutions. The ceiling tariff is fixed at INR 4/ kWh. Bidding closes on May 5.

The French developer’s Indian arm has commissioned part of its 675 kW AC rooftop solar PV plant at the Goa Institute of Management (GIM) campus in Goa.

The New Delhi-based developer has agreed to sell its 152 MW of solar rooftop portfolio for INR 536.5 crore (US$ 73.5 million) as it focuses on capital discipline and improving shareholder returns.

Domestic bids are invited to install and commission a 1 MW captive rooftop solar plant at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. Operation and maintenance of the plant for ten years also falls under the bidder’s scope. Bidding closes on April 26.

It highlights the best practices from Australia—a nation with the world’s highest rooftop solar capacity per person—to serve as a guide in planning for this integration.

Rooftop solar, at 3.9 GW, accounts for only around 10% of the cumulative grid-connected solar capacity installed by the nation as of February end this year.

Karnataka leads with 7355 MW of installed solar capacity. It is followed by Rajasthan (5473 MW) and Tamil Nadu (4404 MW).

The Chinese manufacturer commanded a 17% share of the total 3268 MW of rooftop PV inverter shipments in India in the January-December 2020 period.

As of 2020, only 13 cities in India had renewable energy targets and/or policies in place. These cities, however, are home to a significant 67.6 million people.

India added 4.6 GW of solar in the January-December period of the year 2020. Chinese manufacturers maintained the lead in module and inverter shipments. Longi Solar captured the lion’s share of module sales. Sungrow led the inverter supplies for utility-scale installations and Goodwe for rooftops.
