Solar power developers have until February 15 to lodge interest for setting up the 15 MW solar PV project in the district Bilaspur of Himachal Pradesh. The maximum levelized tariff payable to the project developer is fixed at INR 3.41/kWh for 25 years.
The 452 kWp array features 1,300 photovoltaic panels across an acre of water split between two artificial lakes at the airport golf course.
A study has analyzed the technical and financial feasibility of floating solar at hydro power plants. The report concludes floating PV reduces evaporation from hydropower reservoirs and the water saved can be used to generate more electricity.
The 2,000ha installation, which will surpass in scale a 150 MW plant in China’s Anhui province, will reportedly require a INR3,000 crore investment.
The latest win follows a 1.95 MW/2.15 MWh solar-plus-battery storage project bagged by the developer for the union territory of Lakshadweep in July this year.
Telangana-based Novus Green has won two contracts from state-owned coal miner Singareni Collieries Company Limited, under which it will provide EPC services for two grid-interactive floating solar power plants with a combined capacity of 15 MW (AC).
The state-run hydropower producer is in talks with Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited to form a joint venture to explore and develop an aggregate 500 MW of floating solar power projects in the state.
The state, which is aiming to hit 2.2 GW of solar within two years, has received a Solar Energy Corporation of India proposal for 500 MW of floating project capacity even as it approves a 40 MW water-borne array put forward by the national solar body. The 500 MW suggested comes on top of a similar scale of floating PV planned across the state by public hydropower company NHPC.
The state-run power producer has invited solar developers and EPC contractors to enlist for developing its grid-connected floating/ground-mounted solar projects. Applications can be submitted until September 16.
