India’s solar module manufacturing capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) has crossed 144 GW per annum, marking a major milestone for the domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem. Approximately 81 GW of new capacity was added during calendar year 2025 alone, representing a sharp 99% year-on-year increase compared to around 41 GW added in 2024.

According to the latest notification issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), several new manufacturers have been inducted into the ALMM framework. These include ZNShine Solarworld—a joint venture between Chinese manufacturer ZNShine and Indian solar EPC company Solarworld—with 1,552 MW, INOX Solar (1,274 MW), Macwin Solar (405 MW), Eastman Green Technologies (374 MW), Frontier Energy (548 MW), and Green Valley Motors (34 MW) of approved module manufacturing capacity.

In a parallel development, MNRE issued the ALMM List-II for Solar Cells on July 31, 2025. As of now, around 24 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity has been enlisted under ALMM List-II.
