Vietnam’s Vingroup has committed an investment of $3 billion to develop a multi-sector ecosystem in the Indian state of Telangana, with a strong focus on renewable energy, electric mobility, and sustainable urban development. The investment will be executed in phases, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vingroup and the Government of Telangana at the Telangana Rising Global Summit.
Under the MoU, both parties will explore strategic opportunities across key sectors including smart urban development, electric mobility solutions, renewable energy, EV charging infrastructure across approximately 2,500 hectares, healthcare, education, and tourism. The partnership aims to accelerate Telangana’s socio-economic transformation while advancing its long-term sustainability goals.
In the electric mobility segment, Vingroup proposes to introduce India’s first large-scale electric taxi fleet and a mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) platform using VinFast EVs, through its subsidiary Green and Smart Mobility (GSM). The group may also explore potential opportunities associated with EV manufacturing initiatives in the future.
Through VinEnergo, Vingroup plans to invest in a 500 MW solar farm spread across 500 hectares, to provide a stable source of green electricity for urban areas, industrial zones and the entire electrified mobility ecosystem.
In addition to these initiatives, Vingroup proposes to participate in the development of strategic connectivity infrastructure to strengthen regional linkages and enhance the capacity for urban spatial development.
Telangana government will assist in identification and allocation of suitable land parcels for these projects, master planning and project structuring, and mobilizing relevant agencies to prepare the necessary connecting infrastructure. The state government will also consider extending incentives in line with existing policies and will work closely with Vingroup throughout the research and implementation stages to ensure project progress and effectiveness.
