Nextpower launches solar tracker foundation system tailored for India

Nextpower (formerly Nextracker), a global provider of ground-mount solar tracker technologies, has launched its NX Anchor solar tracker foundation system in India. Designed for structural stability and seamless integration with NX Horizon trackers, NX Anchor accelerates solar installation, reduces costs, and enhances reliability across diverse soil conditions.

Previously launched in North America, the Anchor system has already been piloted across several projects there. The Indian version has been customized for local site conditions, including varied soil characteristics and the continued use of concrete at many locations.

Abhilash Pamulaparthy, Senior Director- Product & Engineering at Nextpower, told pv magazine that by designing and supplying both the foundations and trackers, Nextpower reduces overall project installation and commissioning risks for EPC providers and developers.

“An integrated solution makes installation and commissioning much easier for EPC providers and developers. They no longer need to worry about schedules or on-time delivery. It’s faster, more reliable, and ultimately supports the lowest LCOE over the plant’s 25–30-year lifetime,” said Pamulaparthy.

The Anchor system integrates the bearing housing assembly into a prefabricated A-frame, eliminating roughly 3,000 parts per megawatt and significantly simplifying and speeding up PV installations.

With its two-leg, push-pull configuration, the system reduces required below-ground embedment depths and cuts down concrete volume. “Additionally, Nextpower has introduced a ballast system for saline or high-water-table regions where corrosion risk and groundwater ingress make deep embedment more challenging,” said Pamulaparthy.

Growing portfolio

Nextpower is rapidly expanding its product portfolio to complement its tracker systems. The company added an electrical balance-of-system (eBOS) suite of products to its core platform through the acquisition of U.S.-based Bentek Corp., a manufacturer of electrical infrastructure used in solar plants. It has also expanded into the solar panel frame market with the acquisition of Origami Solar. Robotic solutions for site surveillance and panel cleaning are also under development.

“These expansions sit alongside our core tracker platform, allowing us to offer a more complete ecosystem of solar solutions,” said Pamulaparthy. “While much of this expanded portfolio is currently targeted at the U.S. market, India-specific customization is underway.”

India: A high-growth tracker market

Compared to markets like North America—where tracker adoption has reached about 95%—India remains at around 35–40% tracker penetration in utility-scale projects. However, with India installing roughly 25–30 GW of solar capacity per year, the market still represents a massive and fast-growing opportunity, said Pamulaparthy.

Nextpower also operates a Center for Solar Excellence in India, featuring test yards where new components and tracker configurations are evaluated under local environmental conditions before broader deployment.

The company now has more than 450 employees across Hyderabad and Chennai offices in India working in product design, R&D, and project support.

Globally, Nextpower has shipped more than 150 GW of solar trackers, including over 10 GW in India across contracted, and under-development projects.
