Delta, a power and energy management solutions provider, has launched 1.1 MW central inverter for large-scale solar power plants in India. The inverter combines efficiency of up to 99.1%, modular design, and advanced communication and protection features. Up to five units can be connected in parallel to allow higher power output of 5.5 MW and scaling of the system to meet increasing energy demands.
The inverter is designed for use with a system voltage of 1,500 V DC.
“The inverter is designed, developed and produced in India with domestic value addition of more than 50%. While we will sell it initially in the Indian market, we plan to qualify it for export to global markets,” Rajesh Kaushal, vice president, BG Head, Power & Energy Solutions at Delta Electronics India, told pv magazine.
With a maximum AC output power of 1350 kVA at 23°C and 1120 kVA at 51°C, the inverter operates reliably even in high-temperature environments. It supports one maximum power point tracker (MPPT) with five DC input groups (expandable to six or seven). Maximum PV input current is 1,445 A and short-circuit current capacity is 3,541 A.
Kaushal said, given the surging RE market in India, Delta plans to expand the annual production capacity of inverters in India from 1 GW currently to 5 GW in the next two-three years.
At REI 2025, Delta has also launched 5.5 MWh battery storage containers with intelligent energy management system designed and developed in India. Currently, it is selling these BESS containers under a tieup with the headquarter in Taiwan. Kaushal said localization program is underway for the BESS too.
