Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation stone of Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd’s (SECI) 300 MW(AC) solar PV Project in Andhra Pradesh virtually. The project, located Ramagiri in Sri Sathya Sai district, is SECI’s largest self-owned solar PV installation. It will be executed by Amara Raja Infra on EPC basis.

Spread over 1,047 acres in Ramagiri and Muthuvakuntla villages, the project is being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase II, Tranche III.

[Under CPSU Scheme Phase-II, government-owned entities set up grid-connected PV projects, with viability gap funding (VGF) support, for self-use or use by other government entities, either directly or through distribution companies (DISCOMs). The scheme mandates usage of domestically manufactured solar PV cells and modules.]

The power generated by the plant will be procured by Madhya Pradesh Power Management Co. Ltd (MPPMCL). The agreement for offtake has already been executed.

“The project will create direct and indirect job opportunities during both construction and operation phases, support local infrastructure development, and contribute to socio-economic growth in the region,” stated SECI. “It is expected to stand as a model of public sector-led renewable energy development that aligns national energy priorities with community benefits.”
