AMPIN Energy Transition and Nxtra by Airtel have expanded their partnership with a new power-wheeling agreement for 125.65 MW of solar-wind hybrid energy from inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected plants. This brings the total renewable energy capacity contracted between the two companies to over 200 MW.
AMPIN said the project will be implemented in two phases, with captive solar and wind projects located in Rajasthan and Karnataka. The power generated will cater to Nxtra’s data centres across eleven new states.
AMPIN currently supplies solar power to Nxtra through intra-state open access in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha.
Ashish Arora, CEO – Nxtra by Airtel, said, “By powering our digital infrastructure with over 200 MW of renewable energy through our partnership with AMPIN, we are setting new standards for the industry. This achievement highlights our leadership in using ISTS-backed clean energy to power our [data centre] facilities sustainably, boosting reliability and ensuring tangible climate impact.”
Pinaki Bhattacharyya, founder, MD and CEO, AMPIN Energy Transition, said, “With this partnership, we demonstrate that through a seamless blend of inter-state and intra-state renewable energy solutions backed by a pan-India presence, we can take any customer through a nearly 100% energy transition.”
Nxtra joined the global RE100 initiative in June 2024, pledging to source 100% of its electricity from renewable sources and becoming the first data centre in India and the 14th Indian company to join the initiative.
AMPIN Energy Transition is India’s leading renewable energy transition company with a total portfolio of 5 GWp spread across 23 states in the country. Headquartered in New Delhi with regional offices in Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata, it has a balanced portfolio of renewable energy assets using a blend of solar, wind and storage to provide green power to utility and commercial and industrial customers.
