Bluebird Solar is ramping up its solar module manufacturing capacity to 2.5 GW from 1.2 GW at its facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It expects the new line to be fully operational by October 2025.

The company said the expansion is part of its strategic growth roadmap to meet the rising demand driven by India’s clean energy push, key government subsidy programs such as the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and PM-KUSUM, and the ongoing emphasis on domestic manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat [self-reliant India] initiative.

“Our expansion to 2.5 GW is not just about increasing capacity — it’s about scaling impact,” said Akshay Mittal, director, Bluebird Solar. “The expanded facility will incorporate advanced AI automation, enhanced quality control systems, and energy-efficient practices to meet the evolving demands of utility-scale and rooftop solar projects.”

The facility will be equipped with fully automated lines and advanced quality control systems to meet the highest industry benchmarks. It will continue to produce ALMM, BIS and IEC certified solar PV modules.

The expansion is expected to create over 500 new direct and indirect jobs.
