L&T Energy GreenTech, an arm of Larsen & Toubro, has won Indian Oil Corp.’s tender for a green hydrogen production plant with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes per annum at its Panipat refinery in Haryana. It won this project at a competitive bid of INR 397/kg, against NTPC Renewable Energy’s INR 398/kg and ReNew’ INR 407/kg.
The company will set up the plant on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis to supply green hydrogen at INR 397/kg.
Green hydrogen must be produced on a continuous basis (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) through water electrolysis powered by renewable energy.
The tender, which faced cancellation twice due to tepid response from the industry, received five bids in the third issue.
