RIL to invest in 10 GW of solar energy projects in Andhra Pradesh, PLI Scheme’s second round receives bids from 11 companies

Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), has announced that his Group will invest in building 10 GW of solar energy projects in Andhra Pradesh. The Group’s latest commitment follows its announcement to set up 10 GW of renewable energy capacity in Uttar Pradesh.

The second round of the PLI Scheme for solar manufacturing, with a budgetary layout of INR 19,500 crore ($2.4 billion), has reportedly received bids from eleven companies, including Reliance, Shirdi Sai, First Solar, Tata Power Solar, Vikram Solar, Waaree Energies, ReNew Solar, Avaada, JSW Renewable, Ampin Solar and Green Energy. Reliance and Shirdi Sai Electricals bid for 6 GW each, while First Solar applied for 3.4 GW.
