Tata Power Renewable Energy commissions 300 MW solar project in Karnataka for SECI
Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) has commissioned a 300 MW solar project for Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) in Koppal, Karnataka. The project was developed through TP Saurya, a wholly owned subsidiary of TPREL.
The project is expected to generate 810 million units (MUs) of renewable energy annually and offset an estimated 103,820 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. The generated power will be supplied to SECI
A key feature of the project is the deployment of solar trackers, enabling the solar modules to track the movement of the sun and optimise energy generation. The project uses TP580HG10NB bifacial modules. The combination of tracking technology and high-efficiency bifacial modules supports efficient utilisation of the project site and enhances renewable power generation.
“The Koppal project also reflects TPREL’s focus on building a diverse and inclusive workforce across its renewable energy operations,” stated TPREL. “Around 16 women professionals, accounting for nearly 40% of the workforce at the project site, have contributed in key roles including site managers and site engineers, supporting technical execution, engineering and team management.”
With the addition of this project, TPREL’s total utility-scale renewable energy portfolio has reached 12 GW. Out of this around 7.2 GW is operational, including 5.8 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, while close to 4.9 GW is under various stages of implementation.
