IndiGrid commissions 250 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS project in Rajasthan
IndiGrid and EnerGrid have commissioned a 250 MW/500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Rajasthan through a special purpose vehicle, Rajasthan BESS Private Ltd (RBPL). The commissioning marks IndiGrid’s third utility-scale BESS project to become operational.
The project was awarded to IndiGrid by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN) in November 2024. The scope of work includes the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the 250 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS facility
The project was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process and is developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. IndiGrid signed a battery energy storage service agreement (BESSA) with NVVN in December 2024 for a contract period of 12 years from the commercial operation date.
Located in a key renewable energy generation hub, the RBPL project will provide peak power support and enhance grid flexibility, facilitating the integration of renewable energy into India’s power system.
AmpereHour Energy served as the technology partner for the project.

IndiGrid is India’s first and largest publicly listed infrastructure investment trust (InvIT) in the power sector.
