Trontek Electronics is expanding into battery energy storage systems (BESS) for residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), industrial, and utility-scale applications. The company, which recently unveiled a 5 MWh BESS solution for C&I and utility-scale applications, aims to reach 12 GWh of annual BESS manufacturing capacity by 2028. The capacity will be developed in phases, starting with an initial 3 GWh.

The expansion builds on Trontek’s more than two decades of experience in battery technology, electric mobility, charging infrastructure and energy solutions.

“The next energy revolution will not be about generating more power, but about making energy more intelligent, flexible and accessible. As mobility, homes, industry and the grid converge, storage will become a defining layer of the new energy economy,” said Samrath S. Kochar, founder & CEO, Trontek. “BESS is the next evolution of Trontek’s two-decade journey in battery and energy technology – taking our expertise from powering applications to enabling energy systems at scale, built in India for the opportunities ahead.”

Trontek’s BESS portfolio ranges from 215 kWh to 5 MWh and is designed to address energy storage requirements across different applications and system sizes.

For homes, the solutions are intended to support greater utilisation of renewable power and energy resilience; for C&I customers, they can help manage demand, optimise energy consumption and strengthen power reliability; while at industrial and utility scales, BESS can support renewable integration, grid flexibility and more efficient management of electricity supply and demand.

Trontek said it is already engaging with customers across these applications as it builds its presence in India’s rapidly expanding energy storage market.

“A central pillar of Trontek’s strategy is local engineering and manufacturing, supported by capabilities across battery systems, testing, system integration, technology development, and service,” stated Trontek. “The company is developing solutions suited to India’s diverse operating environments and application requirements, while building the foundation to scale as demand for energy storage grows.”
