KPIT, an India-based automotive software and engineering solutions supplier, has unveiled its proprietary sodium-ion battery technology, and is now on the lookout for manufacturing partners. Ravi Pandit, chairman of KPIT, tells pv magazine, that that the company has developed multiple variants with energy density ranging from 100 Wh/kg to 170 Wh/kg, and potentially reaching 220 Wh/kg.

Exide has forayed into lithium-ion-based home power backup systems with the launch of wall-mount lithium battery inverters in 450 W and 720 W sizes. 

OGO Energy will manufacture battery packs incorporating its battery management system and battery cells with improved longevity and heat-resistance made possible by noco-noco’s X-SEPA separators.

India’s OGO Energy has launched battery energy storage systems with indigenously developed smart battery management system. These systems feature a modular design. Up to five battery modules of 5.12 kWh each can be combined to give a storage capacity of 25.6 kWh.

The Alpha 150 battery, produced in the Netherlands by Australian electronics manufacturer Redarx, has a lifespan of more than 5,000 cycles and a continuous discharge rating of 200 A.

Kunwer Sachdev, the founder of Su-kam brand inverters in India, has converted his farmhouse in Gurugram into an R&D and manufacturing facility for new-age solar and lithium battery storage products under his new venture Su-vastika Systems. Dutch manufacturer MG Energy Systems is offering a new storage system in two versions, with capacities of 5.8 kWh and 7.2 kWh and nominal capacities of 230 Ah and 280 Ah.

The EnerPack from Indian manufacturer Jakson consists of a hybrid inverter, lithium ferro phosphate batteries, and an intelligent energy management system that can smartly combine grid power, solar power, wind power, and even diesel generator power supply to maximize the use of renewable energy.

An underdeveloped charging ecosystem is one of the many factors restricting the uptake of electric four-wheelers in India. A limited number of products and higher costs than combustion-engine powered vehicles are the other deterrents.

Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has invited bids for the supply, installation and commissioning of an aggregate 6 MW capacity of solar power generation projects along with LiFePo4 battery backup at various sites in Uttar Pradesh. Bidding closes on June 24.
