Energy Storage India (ESI) 2018, India’s leading international conference and expo for energy storage is going to address the larger issues, challenges, emerging trends and wide array of opportunities for Energy Storage, Micro-grids and Electric Vehicle solutions in India. This biggest networking platform for energy storage is going to discuss the next steps in Implementing India’s ambitious Energy Storage Mission. ESI 2018 is supported by AES, global leader in utility scale energy storage as a title partner.

The 5th International Conference & Expo on Energy Storage and Micro-grids is scheduled from January 11 – 12, 2018 along with Pre – Conference Workshops on January 10, 2018 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India. Suresh Prabhu, Honourable Minister for Industry and Commerce will be inaugurating the conference & exhibition. RV Deshpande, Minister of Large and Medium Scale Industries and Infrastructure Development, Govt. of Karnataka (First state to release electric vehicle and energy storage policy in India) will be the keynote speaker for electric vehicle session. Anand Kumar, (Secretary, MNRE), R.P. Gupta (Additional secretary, NITI Aayog), Pankaj Batra (Member, Planning, CEA) and Anil Srivastava (Advisor, DG, DMEO, NITI Aayog) will be the keynote speakers in various sessions at ESI 2018. The policy makers will share their insights on national storage mission and its relevance for renewable integration in India.

ESI 2018 is going to be the next step in India’s ambition to become a global pioneer in renewable, micro grids and electric vehicles with more than 2000+ industry experts, 100+ speakers, 50+ exhibitors and partners participating from over 25 countries across the globe. Other government bodies includes Invest India, Startup India, Skill Council, SECI, IREDA, NIWE, CECRI, NRDC, CERC, POSOCO, NSGM, BEE, EESL, ARAI, ICAT, International Solar Alliance (ISA), Indian Railways, Power Grid Co-operation, NTPC, BHEL, NLC and REIL will participate in the event.

Organised annually by India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), a leading body to address the need for a robust energy storage ecosystem in the country, ESI 2018 will provide first-class networking event to drive energy storage market expansion in profitable applications – highlighting the synergies, inter-relationships and new business opportunities for transmission, distribution, customer-sited, micro-grids/campuses and e-mobility applications. IESA aims to make India a global hub for research and manufacturing of advanced energy storage technologies by 2022.

Addressing key attractions of ESI 2018 with respect to India’s need for advance energy storage technologies in current promising scenario and positive policy framework, Rahul Walawalkar, Executive Director, Indian Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) said, “India is anticipated to become one of the best markets for the adoption of energy storage technologies due to several drivers like the fastest growing economy, increasing share of renewables, transmission constraints, need for providing 24×7 quality power and electric mobility mission. With the ambitious target of India to install 100 GW of solar by 2022, Energy Storage technologies have strategic importance for India’s energy security and clean energy future. India is also aggressively moving in the right direction for a mass scale shift to 100% electrification of Indian railways by 2021 and electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030.”

“We are confident that ESI 2018 will become a gala platform for newer avenues, thought exchange and effective roadmaps for Advanced Energy Storage Technologies, Regulatory and Policy issues, Renewable Integration, Electric Vehicles, Electric Transportation, Make in India, International Energy storage scenario, Rural Microgrid and Off grid, Campus Micro Grid for Smart Cities, Mission Innovation and a lot more”, he further added.

ESI 2018 will also host the 2nd IESA Awards recognising the best in Energy storage, Electric Vehicle and Micro Grid industry. Delegates can also experience the state of art electrical vehicle track and electric pavilion designed specially at the exhibition area on January 12, 2018. IESA members will get a chance to be part of B2B meetings and access to deal room so as to explore newer partnership avenues. Three parallel energy storage workshops will allow delegates to get hands on experience on various technicalities and will provide in-depth understanding of advanced technologies and solutions. The technical workshop will also feature a special session by Bureau of Indian Standards to discuss draft electrical energy storage system standards.

One of the key attractions of ESI 2018 will be India’s first start up competition focused on energy storage, electric vehicles & charging infrastructure and microgrids. This platform will help the startups in breaking the barriers of limited direction and exposure to global technologies. It will pave the way for great disruption in the space. The competition is supported by Start-up India (DIPP, Govt. of India Initiative), Mumbai Angel Network, India Angel Network, TiE-Delhi-NCR, Sangam Venture and Global Energy Storage Alliance (GESA).

The 5th Edition of ESI is going to be bigger and better by paving way for India to gain global recognition and to get closer to the prestigious Energy Storage Mission.
