The country has to work towards developing these technologies indigenously for maximising the benefits to the economy. The ICC would like to be in the forefront of the development and promotion of these technologies.”

The Green Urja and Energy Efficiency award aims to create a platform for highlighting transparent innovative and sustainable practices, policies and performances, in order to inspire and motivate others to adopt the same. It will acknowledge and reward companies in the following categories:
• Companies in Power Distribution
• Power Producers (including captive power producers)

Keeping in view that the scale-up of Renewable Energy capacities differ across regions, the award will be
considered in the following 3 clusters:
• Front-runner states: cumulative RE capacities installed exceeding 1000MW
• Emerging States: cumulative RE capacities installed between 100MW and 1000MW
• Smaller states & UTs: cumulative installed RE capacities less than 100MW

Energy sector continues to be essential for all organised human activities. The use of efficient sources of energy continues to influence development in the society, particularly in an industrialised or commercial one. The availability, affordability and efficient marketing of energy efficiency has gained increasing importance over the years. In this backdrop, the Green Urja and Energy Efficiency Awards gain even greater significance.
