Chinese scientists build 33.3%-efficient perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell processed in ambient air
Chinese researchers developed a PNCC polymer hole-transport layer that enables efficient and stable perovskite solar cells to be fabricated under ambient conditions. The material was used in a perovskite-silicon tandem cell that achieved 33.3% efficiency and a certified efficiency of 33.0%.
Chinese scientists achieve record-breaking 27.35% efficiency for perovskite-organic tandem solar cell
Nanjing University researchers developed a perovskite-organic tandem solar cell using a novel low-bandgap acceptor to boost near-infrared light harvesting and improve photocurrent matching. The device achieved a 27.35% efficiency, while retaining 80% of its initial performance after 744 hours of continuous illumination.

Hitachi launches CO2 heat pump water heaters with solar-friendly tariff controls
Hitachi has introduced its Y-series EcoCute CO2 heat pump water heaters in Japan, with 370-liter and 460-liter models set to launch from November 2026. The upgraded range adds expanded support for daytime electricity tariffs and PV-linked energy management, alongside a five-year manufacturer warranty.
Lab confirms negligible LeTID degradation in TOPCon solar cells
U.S. researchers have found that light- and elevated-temperature-induced degradation (LeTID) has a limited impact on n-type TOPCon solar cells compared with earlier p-type PERC technology. Optimized firing conditions and laser-enhanced contact optimization (LECO) can further suppress degradation, with industrial TOPCon cells showing efficiency losses within acceptable warranty tolerances.

Chinese scientists achieve record-breaking 24.0% efficieny for large-area perovskite solar modules
Researchers achieved a certified 24.0% efficiency on an 810 cm² perovskite module and 22.0% on a 0.72 m² module by combining high-saturated-vapor-pressure (SVP) processing with lead carboxylate passivation. The approach also delivered strong durability, with modules retaining 96% of their initial efficiency after 2,200 hours of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and meeting International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61215 reliability requirements.
Study shows consequences of PV-related fires are generally limited in severity
An international study analyzed PV-related fires across the UK, Italy, Slovenia, and Sweden, showing that differences in reported fire rates are largely driven by national data collection methods and definitions. The researchers found that PV fires remain relatively rare, with data revealing that DC cables and connectors are the most common ignition sources.
