Mecpower Solutions to set up 5 GWh BESS factory in Gujarat
Mecpower Solutions Ltd, a Gujarat-headquartered integrated renewable energy infrastructure company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to set up a 5 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) assembly facility at Karjan, with an envisaged investment of around INR 160 crore.
As India advances toward its clean energy and energy security goals, energy storage systems are expected to play a pivotal role in enabling the large-scale deployment of renewable energy while addressing the challenges of intermittency and grid stability. The proposed facility will cater to the utility-scale and commercial and industrial applications.
“The signing of this MoU with the Government of Gujarat represents an important step in Mecpower’s journey towards becoming a future-ready energy infrastructure company,” said Setul Shah, managing director, Mecpower Solutions Ltd. “Our proposed investment in a 5 GWh battery energy storage system assembly facility reflects our confidence in India’s clean energy growth story and our commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities.”
